Celebrate a recent scientific milestone with the Leopardus Tilcayo Tiger Cat Shirt. This design features the newly identified cat species, formally named on September 17, 2026. Discovered in the Yungas cloud forest on the eastern slopes of the Andes in Bolivia, this animal represents the first new living cat species recognized in over a century. It's a striking depiction for those who appreciate unique wildlife discoveries.
The Leopardus tilcayo is characterized by its light brown coat adorned with dark rosettes, and it possesses distinctive round, teddy-bear-like ears. Smaller than a typical house cat, it was previously mistaken for an oncilla by researchers before its unique genetic lineage, splitting from other tiger cats approximately 1.4 million years ago, was confirmed. Locals in Bolivia already knew it as 'tilcayo,' a name now recognized by science.
This tee is printed on demand on soft cotton with a unisex fit, available in sizes S-4XL.
